Claims

In a monolith type catalytic converter constituted by upper and lower divided shells that are adhesively bonded together at the 7-ji portion, the upper and lower divided shells are located where the annular retainer made of foamed ceramic that holds the catalyst carrier is located. The flanges on both sides of the shell are bent and formed so that a window hole is formed when the upper and lower split shells are overlapped, and the tip surface of the window hole is joined to the outer peripheral surface of the annular retaining member, and a window is formed in the window hole.
