PURPOSE:To mark manufactured years, months and so forth minutely on batteries clearly by a simple method so that they don't rub off by carving letters, marks and so forth on the surface of a synthetic resin member, which is a part of the exterior case of a battery, with a laser beam. CONSTITUTION:A mark written on an insulating plate 15 not only has various colors but also is carved on the surface of the plate 15. Therefore, it extremely hardly rubs off differently from usual print with ink. Since an optical image pattern obtained with a laser beam (l) is marked on the plate 15, a minute pattern can be highly clearly marked by properly reducing a pattern formed on a mask 6 by means of an optical system 5.
