As disclosed in JP-A No. 53-65157, printing is carried out using a transfer foil on which a transfer ink layer of an arbitrary pattern is formed on an arbitrary film. Thermal transfer printing methods are known.

Most of the ink required and printed on the peta printing foil is discarded without being used, so it has drawbacks such as high cost. Furthermore,
The transfer foil disclosed in Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 53-63137 also has the following drawbacks.

Furthermore, when the gravure printing method 11 is used, the outline of the ink layer is not sharp and a so-called "swimming" phenomenon is observed, so that it is not fully satisfactory as a transfer foil.

Yumata, 1st place = 7゜Izuwaka, on the other hand? Transfer foils with such a configuration may cause the release varnish to inhibit adhesion between the top coat and the ink layer, cause burrs to form in the release varnish or adhesive varnish, or cause yellowing of the adhesive varnish. It has the disadvantages that it is extremely difficult to select materials, and that it increases the number of man-hours and materials, resulting in high costs. Moreover, when such a transfer foil is used for transfer, the transfer performance is extremely poor when the paint applied to the surface of the golf ball, which is the object to be transferred, has progressed to hardening. It was difficult to select the material and shape of the silicone pad for applying pressure from the back side, and in order to ensure that the ink layer adhered to the golf ball sufficiently, if pressure was applied at high temperatures for a long period of time, the outer skin of the golf ball would become distorted. It has drawbacks.

Succeeded in developing transfer foil and received a patent application in 1982.
It has been filed as No.-145507. That is, this invention forms an ink layer on a polypropylene film without using a release varnish or an adhesive, and in particular an ink composition that has release properties and transferability and has sufficient necessary physical properties. The main resin is nitrified cotton or alkyd resin, and the colorant is a pigment or dye, and the additives are polyethylene powder, a plasticizer, and a surfactant dissolved or dispersed in an organic solvent. This transfer foil for golf balls is made by forming a desired ink layer on a polypropylene film using ink.

This method had the following problems in terms of productivity. In other words, when transferring, a high temperature condition of 180°C is required, so when transferring to a large area, the film tends to have shrinkage wrinkles, causing deformation of the ink image, and when applying a clear top coat to the surface of the golf pole after transfer. This had the disadvantage that the ink layer transferred to the top coat solvent was immersed and ran, resulting in loss of clarity of the ink image.

The ink layer formed by the special ink composition described later must have characteristics that allow the ink layer to be completely released during transfer.

Because the ink layer tends to crack due to strong impact when hitting the ball, it is added to prevent cracks.

Since the layer has excellent physical properties such as light resistance, abrasion resistance, and crack resistance, it is truly suitable as a transfer foil for golf poles that are exposed to strong light and impact.

Furthermore, it was determined by visual observation whether the pattern transferred to the golf ball was beautifully transferred. Finally, an impact test and abrasion test were conducted to examine the physical properties of the design. The impact test was conducted by repeatedly colliding with a steel plate at a speed of 45 m/sec, similar to a golf pole, 50 times, and the degree of damage such as peeling of the pattern was determined by visual observation, and the impact resistance was determined. In addition, the abrasion test was performed by strongly spraying water and sand on the golf ball surface after the impact test for 5 minutes, and the degree of damage such as peeling and abrasion of the pattern was then determined by visual observation.
