[Detailed Description of the Invention] The present application relates to a printing roll coater equipped with a doctor knife.

Conventionally, this type of roll coater has a doctor knife whose cutting edge is formed in a straight line in the left and right direction, so when the coating roll is used as an engraving roll to create a shading pattern on the coated material such as paper or fabric, the conventional roll coater is used. If a doctor knife is used, the printing ink will cut out too clearly, making it difficult for the printing ink to adhere to the non-engraved surface of the applicator roll, and reducing the amount of printing ink pooled between the applicator roll and the object to be coated. There is a drawback that the amount is too small, resulting in a situation where the desired shading pattern cannot be expressed.

The use of a doctor roll has been considered as a means to overcome the drawbacks of conventional doctor knives, but in this case, if the distance between the applicator roll and the doctor roll is too small, the ink will not adhere to the applicator roll, which is the opposite. However, if the clearance between the two is exceeded, an excessive amount of ink will be deposited on the surface of the coating roll, resulting in the problem of scattering of the printing ink onto the object to be coated.

Therefore, in order to create a desired shading pattern on the object to be coated, delicate adjustment of the clearance between the applicator roll and the doctor roll is required, which has the disadvantage of requiring considerable skill.

Therefore, the inventor came to the conclusion that the most stable control of printing ink would be to use a doctor knife, and in order to eliminate the drawbacks of conventional doctor knives, the inventor developed two doctor knives with uneven cutting edges. We aim to provide a roll coater for printing with a layered coating attached.

In the uneven shape of the cutting edge 4aa, the convex portion is formed in a straight line with the same height so that it can come into close contact with the circumferential surface of the coating roll 1, but the shape of the concave portion is rectangular, triangular, semicircular, semielliptical, etc. The term "left and right direction" in this specification refers to the axial direction of the coating roll 1, and the term "front and rear direction" refers to the front and back direction toward the coating roll 1.

Like the lower blade 4a, the upper blade 4b also has an uneven cutting edge in the left-right direction so that it can slide in the front-rear, left-right directions by the distance of the lower blade 4a.

That is, a suitable number of screw-molded projections 4ac are implanted on the upper surface between the cutting edge 4aa and the base 4ab of the lower blade 4a, and these projections 4ac are used to connect the cutting edge and the base of the upper blade 4b. The number of protrusions 4aC corresponding to the number of protrusions 4aC having a longitudinal and lateral length equal to or greater than the longitudinal and lateral length of the cutting edge 4ab of the lower blade 4a bored between the lower blade 4a and a width equal to or greater than the longitudinal and lateral width of the protrusion 4ac Pass through the moving hole 4ba and screw 4ad

In this way, when the upper blade 4b is to be moved back and forth, the screw 4ad can be loosened and the upper blade 4b can be moved along the movement 7L4ba (see FIGS. 2 and 3).

The movement hole 4ba has a shape of a cross, or a shape in which more left and right holes are bored in parallel at intervals than holes in the front and back direction in order to enable various forward, backward, left and right movements (see Fig. 3A). It is something that is made.

Note that when the rotational speed of the application roll 1 is rapid, the printing ink 7 may often escape through the recessed portion of the cutting edge 4aa of the lower blade 4a and be ejected.

In order to avoid such a situation, a doctor roll 5 is arranged below the doctor knife 4 and brought into pressure contact with the application roll 1, and before the printing ink 7 reaches the doctor knife 4, the printing ink is applied to the circumferential surface of the application roll 1 in advance. 7 The amount may be adjusted.

In this manner, the roll coater of the present invention slides the upper blade 4b of the doctor knife 4 in the front, back, right and left directions as appropriate depending on the nature and amount of the printing ink 7 used, and adjusts the depth and width of the unevenness of the cutting edge 4aa of the lower blade 4a. The amount of printing ink 7 applied to the circumferential surface of the coating roll 1 determines the amount of printing ink 7 that accumulates between the coating roll 1 and the object 6 to be coated.

The appearance of the light and shade pattern on the object to be coated 6 is due to the accumulation of an appropriate amount of printing ink 7 formed between the object to be coated 6 and the coating roll 1 as described above. There is little need to consider if the coating is uneven, but it is preferable to apply the printing ink 7 evenly over the entire circumferential surface of the applicator roll 1 as much as possible.
It is preferable to make the horizontal width of the convex portion a as narrow as possible and to increase the number of four convex portions as much as possible.

The roll coater of this invention is constructed as described above, and by using this, the amount of printing ink applied to the coating roll can be freely adjusted by appropriately moving the upper blade that constitutes the doctor knife in the front, back, left and right directions. I can do that.

Moreover, since the upper blade is extremely easy to operate, no special training or skill is required on the part of the user.

Therefore, if the roll coater of this invention is used, the amount of printing ink liquid accumulated between the object to be coated and the application roll will be moderate, so that so-called back printing will not cause printing ink scattering, and good results will be obtained, especially when expressing shading patterns. I can do things.

Therefore, the roll coater according to the present invention can be of great benefit when used in this kind of field where the demand will increase more and more in the future.
