Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the heat insulating performance and consequently effectively suppress the transfer of heat generated by braking by a structure wherein ceramic material is arranged between the back face of the back plate of a pad and a caliper body. CONSTITUTION:A heat insulating plate 19 made of ceramic material is arranged at the back face of the back plate 4 of the pad 2 and furthermore a shim plate 20 is also arranged at the back face of the plate 19 and fixed integrally with the plate 19 to the pad 2 by means of rivets 21. Accordingly, the frictional heat, which is produced by the friction between a disc 1 and linings 3 and transmitted through the back plates 4 of the pads 2 via a piston 14 or a reaction part composing of an urging means to the liquid within a cylinder 13, is softened in transmission due to the insulating performance of the ceramic material, resulting in not bringing said liquid within the cylinder 13 up to high temperature.
