The light-emitting layer of a conventional dispersion type electroluminescent device is constructed by simply dispersing fluorescent powder in a medium such as a suitable resin or an inorganic substance, which has the disadvantage that the device has a short lifespan.

The object of the present invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks by applying a protective coating to the surface of each fluorescent powder.

Examples will be described in detail below based on the drawings. 1st
The figure shows a cross-sectional view of the coated powder. The surface of the fluorescent powder 1 is coated with a protective film 2. The coating 2 is made of a dense insulator such as silicon nitride, silicon oxide, yttrium oxide, barium titanate, etc., and is coated with the fluorescent powder 1.
It is a film that allows light to pass through. By covering the fluorescent powder 1 with such a film 2, it is possible to prevent water molecules and various ions from entering the fluorescent powder 1 from the outside, and it is also possible to prevent the fluorescent powder 1 itself from deteriorating due to sublimation or separation. Therefore, the life of the fluorescent powder 1 can be extended compared to when there is no coating 2. In order to make the protection more complete, another protective film 3 may be further coated to form a multilayer structure of two or more layers.
