Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve an efficient selection of polluted matters by a method wherein a pluraity of radiation detectors are arranged continuously along the conveying direction in a mechanism for conveying a matter to be detected and detection outputs thereof are added, multiplied and processed into signals, by which matters to be detected in the pollution are sorted. CONSTITUTION:Detection bodies 102 and 102 are arranged vertically on a body 101 leaving a clearance there between and a belt conveyor 104 is provided between the bodies 102 and 102 to convey clothings 103 to be detected. Radiation detectors 105a-105c are provided along the conveying direction of the conveyor 104 and the detection output thereof is provided to a signal processing circuit 101a to be memorized into a memeory circuit 106. Regarding signals memorized in the circuit 106, those from the detectors 105a and 105b read out delayed each by (2/3)XT and (1/3)XT and those from the detectors 105a-105c added 107 together when the time during which the clothing 103 passes by the body 102 is represented by T. When the added value exceeds the reference, the output of a comparator 108 controls a sorting mechanism 109 thereby enabling an efficient processing.

Generally, in nuclear power generation facilities and the like, areas with high radiation levels are treated as radiation control areas and special pipe layers are installed. When workers enter this radiation controlled area, they must wear special clothing, and when leaving the radiation embroidery area, they must take off this clothing before leaving. The stripped clothes are then washed and reused, but if there is radioactive material on the clothing, the radioactive material will be mixed into the washing water. Therefore, washing water is filtered at a treatment facility to remove radioactive substances before being discharged. This rounding process is carried out by washing to distinguish between clothes coated with radioactive substances and clothes that are not coated with radioactive substances.

The conventional radiation contaminant sorting device has the following problems. That is, there are a plurality of clothes to be detected 3 in the main body J.
When ... is transported, the radiation detectors 2, 2 detect within the detection range with a single one, so it was not possible to determine from which clothing to be detected #1J the radiation was being emitted. This rounding occurs while the detected clothing 3 is being conveyed within the main body 1.

The radiation contaminant sorting device according to the present invention arranges N radiation detectors (N is plural) along the transport direction of a transport mechanism that transports the object to be detected, and adds signals from each radiation detector. A signal processing circuit for integration is provided, and the above signals are independently input to this signal processing circuit, and a mechanism is provided for sorting between detected objects contaminated with radiation and those contaminated with radiation. There are 9 things to sort out the untested materials. Therefore, as soon as the detected clothing passes the radiation detector on the most upstream side in the transport direction, the next detected clothing can be transported immediately, which greatly shortens the transport interval of the detected clothing and improves processing efficiency. The effects are great, such as the ability to improve performance.
