Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect the inner surface of a differential case against wear, by forming an oil passage or passages at least in one of pinion mate gears and side gears in the manner that the oil passages are extended from the front surface to the rear surface of each gear. CONSTITUTION:A differential gear apparatus is constituted by disposing a plurality of pinion mate gears 13 and a plurality of side gears 14 in a differential case 2 in the manner that they are held in mesh with each other. Rear surfaces 13a, 14a respectively of the pinion mate gears 13 and the side gears 14 are kept in sliding contact with the inner wall surface 2a of the differential case 2. Here, oil passages 13c are formed in each of the pinion mate gears 13 in the manner that they are extended from an oil sump 14d to the rear surface of the gear 13, while oil passages 14c are formed in each of the side gears 14 in the manner that they are extended from an oil sump 14d to the rear surface of the gear 14.
