交流電源を整流した電源により作動するインバータの発
振トランスの2次側に放電灯を接続してなる装置におい
て、上記放電灯の点灯用高圧回路が上記発振トランスの
2次側高圧巻線と、上記2次側高圧巻線に直列接続され
た高インピーダンス素子と、この高インピーダンス素子
に並列接続されていて電源投入後所定の時間経過した後
導通状態となるスイッチング素子とから構成され、電源
投入後所定の時間が経過するまで上記放電灯が微放電状
態に保たれるか、−または放電抑止されることを特徴と

た後導通状態となるスイッチング電子とから構成され、
上記放電灯の放電電極加熱過程における放電の開始が上
記高インピーダンス素子により阻止されること“ を特
