Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase response speed and to improve display characteristics by using a metatitanic acid as a display material constituting display electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Titanium oxide (metatitanic acid) is vapor deposited to 2,000Angstrom thickness on a transparent substrate 1 consisting of glass with an RF sputtering device by using indium oxide transparent electrodes 2. A mixture of carbon and iron berlinate insoluble in electrolyte is pressure molded as a binder and the molding is used for a counter electrode 5. A porous sintered alumina body is used for a white reflection plate 6. When voltage is applied to the counter electrode 5 constituted in this way, an ECD colors to gray and when reverse voltage is applied, it decolors. If electrolyte of particularly less moisture content is used, the response speed thereof is increased and display characteristics are improved.
