Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect an abnormality in a capacitor element, by a method wherein a luminous diode is connected in parallel to a capacitor element, and the light- emitting condition of the luminous diode is transferred outside a tank via an optical fiber cable. CONSTITUTION:When a capacitor, consisting of a plurality of capacitor elements 1 being gathered, operates, and if each capacitor element 1 is in a normal condition, a luminous diode 2 continuous to emit a light which is transferred outside a tank T through an optical fiber cable 3. When a short-circuit trouble occurs, the luminous diode 2, astride the capacitor elements 1, extinguishes, and thus, a light to be transferred to the optical fiber cable 3 disappears. This permits the detection of a trouble on the capacitor elements 1 connected in series.
