Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled composition having a high dichroism ratio and showing high contrast by voltage application non-application, by dissolving a specific anthraquinone dye in a nematic liquid crystal with positive dielectric anisotropy.

EFFECT: Said dye shows sufficient compatibility with the liquid crystal, has sufficient coloring capacity in a small amount, is excellent in durability and stability, does not damage an apparatus even if used for a long period of time and used in a display apparatus of a type wherein, when said composition is charged therein, a blue color of an electrode part is extinguished by application of an electric field.
