NEW MATERIAL:Anthraquinone compd. of formula I (wherein R is 4W15C alkyl).
EXAMPLE: Compounds of formula II.
USE: Two-color dye. Use in liquid crystal color displaying device as nematic liquid crystal compsn. (vivid blue color in toluene solution).
PREPARATION: 1,5-Diamino-4,8-dihydroxyanthraquinone-disulfonic acid is reacted with the compd. of formula III in the presence of boric acid and in sulfuric acid, and the resulting product is subjected to desulfonation.
