Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the fluffing of the surface of a roll of yarn by throttling the flow of negative pressure air in the suction nozzle when a yarn end in the suction stream is detected, in a device where a yarn end on the surface of a roll of yarn is caught by suction.
CONSTITUTION: The detection of a yarn breakage actuates a series of cams 7, reverses the roll of yarn 6 and at the same time the valve plate 12 is rotated to fully open by the rotation of the cam 32 to open the opening 15 so that the yarn end on the surface of the yarn roll is caught in the suction nozzle 11. When thus sucked yarn is drawn by the suction air stream into the hollow space in the cylindrical member 21 of the detector 20, it shuts off the light from the light-emitting element 25 and the light-receiving element 25 sends out a signal to excite the solenoid 26. The excited solenoid attracts the operating piece 41 to rotate the pawl 39b while the other pawl 39a is detached from the engaging notch 32a so that the cam 32 moves in the direction that the valve will be closed, and finally the pawl 45a is engaged with the engaging notch 32b so that the cam 32 may not return to full close position and as a result the flow of the negative pressure air decreases while the air flow rate in the opening 15 increases.
