Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit automatic setting of voltage applied to a head with respect to variations in resistance of the head by a device wherein one extra printing head is provided in addition to a number of printing heads and the extra printing head is used as a resistor for setting voltage applied to head in a stabilized power supply circuit. CONSTITUTION:A number of printing heads (heating elements) 32-34 adapted to perform actual printing are connected to corresponding transistors 29-31 for driving heads, the printing heads serving as collector resistors. In addition to these printing heads 32-34, one extra printing head 35 is provided which had one terminal directly grounded and the other terminal connected to a fixed resistor 37 for setting voltage applied to head and a stabilized power supply 39 for supplying head voltage. Voltage of output 36 from the power supply 39 is divided in accordance with a ratio is resistance of the fixed resistor 37 and the printing head 35. Thus, voltage of a control signal 38 for setting head voltage is increased and decreased in proportion to variations in resistance of the printing head 35.
