Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a base body by sticking a grain of diamond, having a conductive layer of its own carbon on the surface, to a shank in one body by performing a high-temperature treatment in a vacuous or inert gas atmosphere containing a fine amount of oxygen.
CONSTITUTION: A high-temperature treatment is carried out in a vacuous or inert gas atmosphere containing fine oxygen to obtain a base body of a reproducing stylus of a detection type for variation in electrostatic capacity value while a grain 1 of diamond having a conductive layer of its own carbon on the surface and a shank 2 used to polishing the grain of diamond are stuck together in one body. The said diamond is artificial or natural waste one, and the shank 2 uses a material which is hardly oxidized even when held at high temperature, e.g., 1150°C for six hours in a vacuous state or inert gas atmosphere containing a small amount of oxygen. In a recessed part 3 formed in the shank 2 at its one end, the diamond grain 1 is stuck by using a welding material 4 which is never oxidized in the said atmosphere.
