Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce a reflection loss of light, by constituting an optical transmission fiber of an organic high polymer, and also constituting a core of the sheath-core structure of that which has polymerized a methyl methacrylate monomer filtered and refined by use of a porous film. CONSTITUTION:A liquid for refining use is put into a vessel 1 of a refining device made of Pyrex glass, is heated, and is filtered, heating by a tape heater 6 in a filter part 5 through a rectification tower 4. Obtained filtered gas is condensed in a cooling part 7 and is stored in a liquid reservoir 8. A polymer obtained by polymerizing a methyl methacrylate monomer refined by said refining device is made a core, is spun by a well-known method, and it is covered as a sheath, for instance, with a copolymer of vinylidene fluoride and tetrafluoroethylene, by which an optical fiber is obtained.
