Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled composition, prepared by mixing an alkoxysilane compound containing a mercapto group with an amine salt compound and a halogen- containing polymer, kneading the resultant mixture, grafting the alkoxysilane compound onto the polymer, bringing the graft polymer into contact with water, and curing vulcanizing the graft polymer at a low temperature without affecting adversely the working atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. halogen-containing polymer is mixed with 0.01W 0.05mol alkoxysilane compound, expressed by the formula HS-R-Si(OR')nY3-n [R' is (CH2)n or the formula; R' is 1W4C alkyl, acetyl or benzoyl; Y is alkoxyl, alkyl or halogen; n is 1W3], and containing mercapto groups and 0.01W0.05mol solid amine compound, e.g. a tri-n-propylamine salt, and the resultant mixture is then kneaded at 100°C or below to graft the alkoxysilane compound onto the polymer. The grafting is completed at room temperature for about 1 week, and the graft polymer is then brought into contact with water alone or containing a silanol condensing catalyst and crosslinked easily at 80°C or below.
