Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the complexity around a housing, and to improve the maintainability, by installing a driver for shifting an intermediate roll on rolling mill's accessory device outside of the housing and on a foundation. CONSTITUTION:A journal of an intermediate roll 6 is born so as to be freely vertically movable by a chock 17 which is provided with a shifting frame 18 and a clamp 21 for vertically and axially shifting the roll 6. A cylinder 19, as a power source for axially shifting the roll 6, is freely rotatably set through a pin 25 on a stand 25 placed on a foundation so as to be sufficiently bearable the shifting force for the roll 6 (output of the cylinder 19). Thus constituted roll shifter is combined with a hydraulic control for surely, quickly and adjustably shiting the roll in the axial direction; and besides, hereby the cylinder 19 becomes readily detachable.
