Abstract

PURPOSE:To treat exhaust gas highly containing dust without clogging catalyst layers by providing dust collecting devices in the inlet side of each stage of multistage catalyst layer and installing them on the inner peripheral walls in the second stage and lower. CONSTITUTION:In treating gas highly containing dust such as exhaust gas of coal-burning boiler etc. by multistage catalyst layers 2A, 2B, 2C, dust collecting devices 5A, 5B, 5C made of wire netting, perforated plate etc. are installed in the upper part of catalyst layers 2A-C. In the uppermost stage 5A, it is installed over whole area of gas flow, and in the second stage and lower 5B, 5C, the devices are installed in shelflike form with a specified width from inner periphral wall of the reactor. By this way, dust falling down from the inner wall of the reactor and catalyst layers can be collected satisfactorily and clogging of catalyst layers 2A-C is prevented. Consequently, long, stable operation can be made possible.
