Abstract

PURPOSE: A plurality of perforated plates is immersed into absorbing lime slurry solution, more deeply at downstream and less deeply at upstream of exhausted gas and smoke passage. This arrangement in absorbing column effectively prevents scale production and maintains unchanged pH to facilitates SO2 absortion.
CONSTITUTION: In desulfurizing apparatus, a plurality of perforated plate 12 in multistage is horizontally installed, where SO2-containing gas D passes from lower plate 12 toward upper plate 12 through each perforation while contacting with absorbing lime slurry solution. Respective plates have perforations whose diameters are stepwisely decreasing from bottom toward top. As a result, upper plates hold more slurry and lower plates hold less slurry, as shown L1>L2>L3>L4>L5... This equlizes a rate of desulfurization at each stage to eliminate scale production fo the prior art using same sized perforations where rapid pH reduction of slurry at the lowest plate causes scale production.
