Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve discharge stability, shelf stability, etc., by blending two kinds of polyalkylene glycols haing different average MW ranges in recording liquid for use in an ink jet recording system.
CONSTITUTION: A polyalkylene glycol (A) having an average MW of 150W350 such as polyethylene glycol or polypropylene glycol is mixed with a polyalkylene glycol having an average MW of 400W750 in a weight ratio of component A to component B of 10:1W1:10. The resulting mixed liquid is used as a main component for the liquid medium of the recording liquid. A recording agent such as a dye or a pigment is blended with the mixture to obtain the desired recording liquid. By the synergistic effect of components A and B, said liquid medium does not solidify even at a lower temperature and hardly evaporates. Further, the solubility of the dye therein is improved, and thus, a recording liquid having excellent shelf stability, etc. can be obtd.
