CONSTITUTION:A measuring object is irradiated with a laser light of frequency omegao from a laser light source 1 after the laser light passes through half mirrors 3, 3a, a lense 4, and a optical fiber 10. Meanwhile, a frequency of a laser light passing through half-mirrors 3 and 2 is shifted by a frequency shifter 15 into a frequency omegao+omegac, and produces a reference light passing through half-mirrors 2a and 3a to a lens 7. A frequency of a reflection light from the measuring object is shifted into a DELTAomega frequency, and the reflection light is reflected in the direction of the lens 7 by the half-mirror 3a, the light entering an avalanche photo diode 16 togetherwith said reference light. In a correlator 13, an electric signal, corresponding to a difference omegac-DELTAomega in frequency between the two lights, is obtained, and a flow rate and a direction are found from the absolute value and polarity.
