Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the delay of operation response by divisionally constituting a drive part for the supply reel and take-up reel of a cassette tape and another drive part for various operations such as play by each function operation. CONSTITUTION:A bifurcated brake arm 30 which brakes the rotations of a supply reel turntable and a take-up reel turntable accordng to prescribed indications is pressed against both the reel turntables all the time through a spring 32, and a brake release plate 8 is engaged with the brake arm 30 to be pushed up by the cam of an FD cam gear 23 or that of an FR cam gear 24. Through the operation of one of those cam gears 23 and 24, the brake arm 30 is pushed up through the brake release plate 8 to release a brake and according to the movement of the brake arm 30, an idler shaf 11a is pushed up to press a driving motor pulley 10a and an idler 11 against each other. Then, the idler shaft 11a is rotated toward the supply reel turntable or take-up reel turntable according to the rotation direction of the driving motor pulley 10a to be pressed against it, thus performing driving corresponding to a prescribed mode.
