Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize optical recording by irradiating a recording medium with semiconductor laser light while modulating the laser beam, by feeding its reflected light to a semiconductor laser, and by confirming a recording state by detecting the feedback output. CONSTITUTION:Light 6 emitted from a semiconductor laser 5 passes through a coupling lens 7, a quarter-wavelength plate 8, and a condenser lens 9 to be focused on the metallic film 16 of an optical disk 17, and its reflected light travels backward to be fed back to the semiconductor laser 5. The output of the semiconductor laser 5 is modulated by a modulating current which corresponds to information and while the optical disk 17 is turning, the output light 12 of the semiconductor laser 5 is detected by a photodetector 13, such as a PIN diode, to observe a detection signal 14, thereby optimizing the output of the light under automatic control. Consequently, optical recording is performed stably.
