Abstract
PURPOSE:To keep low the level of heat produced by a generator rotor so as to improve speed wherewith the rotor responds to a change by a method wherein a generator is provided with two exciting windings designed for cryogenic use, one supplied with a steady exciting current and the other via an impedance with an exciting current representing the difference from the steady current. CONSTITUTION:A generator 1 is provided with a first and a second exciting windings 71 and 72 both designed for cryogenic use. The first exciting winding 71 is supplied by a DC converter 61 with a current that occupies the most part of the steady exciting current under normal conditins while the second exciting winding 72 is supplied by a DC converter 62 with a current representing the difference from the steady current via an impedance 8. This setup keeps low the level of heat to be created by a generator rotor and increases the responding speed thanks to the time constant of the second exciting winding 72 growing smaller.
