Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize a rapid shift from regenerative braking to dynamic braking by a method wherein the dynamic brake cam shaft is beforehand rotated at a prescribed step in response to a speed detecting device output.
CONSTITUTION: A brake resistor 5 is stepped forward to a prescribed balanced step corresponding to a vehicle speed detected by speed generator during the period regenerative brake is being applied thanks to a shunt field system 8 regulated by a field chopper 7. A thyristor 6 is energized and a line breaker 2 opened, and a shift is effected over to dynamic braking when regenerative load is eliminated. By this, a prescribedly required braking force is generated by dynamic braking when a regenerative brake is out of order.
