Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide sharp images which are stable for a long period of time without hampering dispersion stability of pigments and the like by contg. alkylphenol sulfonate as a polarity control agent for a liquid developer. CONSTITUTION:The alkylphenol sulfonate expressed by the formula[R is C1- C18 alkyl, M is Ca, Mg, Mn, Ba, Na, K, Al or Co]is added as a polarity control agent into water base or nonaqueous solvent type carrier liquid. This control agent does not hamper the dispersion of inorg. or org. pigments and resins and the resultant developing soln. is stable over a long period of time. Despite copying of >=10,000 sheets continuously, the images have the sharpness virtually the same as that in the initial period and have less blur.
