PURPOSE:To make possible the position detection with a simple system configuration and high accuracy by combining a pair of photosensors with a subtraction circuit. CONSTITUTION:Light is transmitted from a light source 21 to a reflection plate 22 including a detection mark 23 and detected by a pair of photosensor 25, 26 via a lens system 24. Each detected output is given to a subtraction circuit 29 through buffers 27, 28 and the rotating direction of a servomotor 31 is determined depending on whether the different output is positive or negative, whereas positioning is determined in such a way that the detected mark is located in the middle of the sensors 25 and 26.
