Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A disazo compd. of formulaI[wherein A is a group of formula II or III (wherein R is alkyl, alkoxyl, nitro or halogen; n is 0W3; R may be the same with or different from each other when n is 2 or 3)].
USE: Being useful as a photoelectrically conductive material of an electrophotographic material, the disazo compd. forms a photosensitive material by, e.g., dispersing in an adequate resin binder and forming a layer on an electrically conductive substrate.
PREPARATION: The diazo compd. is obtd. by dissolving a terazonium salt of formula IV (wherein X is an anionic functional group) and a coupling component of formula V or VI in an org. solvent such as N,N-dimethylformaldehyde, and dropping an aq. alkali soln. such as an aq. sodium acetate soln. into this solution at -10W10°C to effect the reaction.
