Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent blowing up of underwater concrete from a bottom of a caisson joint and to enable to perform a dry system installation, by a method wherein a surface of a cutting edge at a caisson bottom is tapered, and when caissons are positioned facing and opposite to each other, concrete is placed in a space between the tapered surfaces to form it into a wedge.
CONSTITUTION: A surface of a cutting edge 2 at a front and a rear end of a bottom of a caisson 1 is tapered such that the forward inclination of a point on the surface of the cutting edge 2 at the front and the rear of the bottom of the caisson 1 increases the further upward from the lower part this point is situated. In case the caissons 1 are coupled together, steel sheet piles 3, 4, and 5 are driven at the both sides of the coupling part and of the caisson 1, and a cut-off wall 7 is installed with sand and a hardener at a part surrounded with the steel sheet piles, cut-off walls 8 being further erected. The inside of the coupling part is excavated down to the lower end of the caisson 1, and an underwater concrete 9 is placed in a space between the cutting edges 4 positioned facing and opposite to each other. After the underwater concrete 9 is cured, water in the coupling part is drained. After a joint concrete 11 is deposited by an open dry method, the caissons 1 are pierced through.
