Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate teaching operation of a dummy of an automatic fusion cutting and welding torch by fitting a tip rod elastically and loosely to the leading end of a hollow torch dummy, and providing an irradiating means for conducting the light from a light source to near the leading end of the rod.
CONSTITUTION: A tip rod 26 is projected and energized to the leading end side of a dummy body 24 of a dummy D of the same dimensiors and shape as those of a fusion cutting and welding torch of a robot by a spring 27 and is fitted loosely to the leading end of said body 24. The fusion cutting point P of the dummy D is positioned apart forward by a distance L than the convergent part 26C of the rod 26. At the teaching operation, the light from a light source 31 built in the dummy D is irradiated to the neighborhood of the point P near the leading end of the rod 26. When the part 26C abuts on the work and the rod 26 submerges during operation, a detector 30 detects this and outputs a signal, by which the dummy D is moved upward. By this mechanism, damaging of the dummy D and its holding means and the deviation in the position of the point P are prevented.
