Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare immobilized enzyme containing enzyme firmly bonded to the carrier and capable of keeping the high enzymatic activity, by using the reaction product of a saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and a polyaldehyde as the carrier.
CONSTITUTION: A saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer obtained by saponifying ≥80mol% of the vinyl acetate unit of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer containing 20W97wt%, pref. 40W95wt% of vinyl acetate unit, is made to react with a polyaldehyde containing at least two aldehyde groups in a molecule, e.g. dialdehyde such as glyoxal and malondialdehyde, etc. or polymeric polyaldehyde such as dialdehyde starch, polyacrolein, etc. to obtain a carrier. Enzyme is bonded to the free aldehyde group of said carrier through covalent bond usually at 0W40°C and pH6.5W8.
