Abstract

PURPOSE:To make gain adjustment of an amplifier automatically, by converting an analog signal from an amplifier into a digital signal, deciding the input level basing on this digital signal and controlling the gain of the amplifier. CONSTITUTION:A reaction current detected by a solid-state enzyme film sensor 1 is inputted to an amplifier 12, amplified with a constant determined by a switch selected in a gain switch group 13 and converted into a digital signal at an A/D converter 15. This digital signal is given to a control circuit 16 to decide if the input level of the A/D converter 15 is within a good range, and if the level is lower or higher than the specified range, a gate selection code is outputted basing on the control signal from the control circuit 16. A specified switch is selected from the gain switch group by this gate selection code and the gain of the amplifier 12 is controlled.
