Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the obstruction of coloring and measure an amimed element in a colorimetric analysis by adding tin to a coloring solution containing quadrivalent lead ion to effect decoloring and reduction of the coloring solution. CONSTITUTION:A piece of high purity tin is added to a coloring solution made of a lead alloy that has been beforehand decomposed with a mineral acid and an oxidant, and the solution is heated to reduce the quadrivalent lead to divalent lead and to change the yellow color of the solution into colorless solution. After this, a color developing reagent is used to color the solution, and the solution is analysed colorimetrically without the obstruction of analysis by coloring of the quadrivalent lead. By this method impurities such as iron in lead alloy are colorimetrically analysed simply and accurately without unneeded coloring in the solution.
