Abstract

PURPOSE: To treat zinc plated steel plate scraps to those suited for raw materials for cast iron by heating said scraps to temps. around the b.p. of zinc, thereby evaporating the plated zinc and separating the same from the scraps.
CONSTITUTION: Zinc plated steel plate scraps are supplied from the upper part of the cylinder of a rotary kiln, and are heated with gas burners from the lower part. When the inside of the cylindr is heated to 907°C which is the b.p. of zinc or temps. above this, the plated zinc evaporates and the gas thereof is forced upward by the combustion gas of the burners, and is discharged to the outside of the cylinder. The steel plate scraps removed of the zinc plating are transferred downward in the cylinder and are removed from the bottom end.
