USE: Useful as an intermediate for the synthesis of fluorine-containing organic compounds.
PROCESS: The titled compound is prepared by reacting pentafluoro-3-iodopropene with ethylene at a molar ratio of pref. 1:(1W3) under UV-light irradiation or in the presence of a peroxide. The pentafluoro-3-iodopropene used as a starting material is obtained by reacting, e.g. pentafluoroallyl chloride with sodium iodide in a proper solvent.
