An 1 column read means 6 extracts and reads the first column of each step of a source program from the information of the control part 4. A comparator 8 detects whether a flag for indicating a comment in the first column of each step is entered or not, and counts up a comment number counter by this detection. Also, a step number counter 7 counts the number of steps of each program. Said number of comments and number of steps are sent to the CPU through a common bus 11, and are stored in a storage device MEM. These number of steps, number of comments, etc. are printed by a printing device 14.
