Abstract
PURPOSE:To uniformly add a flocculant to sludge in a simplfied installation without necessity of power, by inclinedly locating a plurality of flocculant-adding pipes inside a sludge-carrying pipe so that the adding pipes serve both as introducers for the flocculant and agitators for the sludge. CONSTITUTION:The main body 1 of an adding device is connected to a sludge- feeding and carrying pipe 3 with flanges at its opposite ends. Its diameter is made the same as or slightly larger than that of the pipe 3. A plurality flocculant- adding pipes 2 are herically and dottedly located on the periphery of the main body 1 along its axis. The pipe 2 has a diameter such that a whirlpool current is formed in sludge carried into the main body 1 by the pipe 2. The pipes 2 are inclined along a downstream direction, and arranged in a manner such that their top ends are apart in a short distance from the inner surface of the main body 1. The pipes 2 may be fixed to the main body 1 or air-tightly and slidably inserted into bosses projecting from the periphery of the main body 1. A flocculant is added little by little through the pipe 2 at a certain rate in response to a sludge amount being fed, and mixed into the whirlpool current or its neighborhood of the sludge at the downstream side of the pipes 2.
