Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a two-liquid type filter at a lower cost and automate the operation thereof by a method wherein a liquid with its upper surface exposed to the atmospheric air is placed on a filter medium laid on an upper surface of a tank having a filtering surface so as to contact the filter medium to the filtring surface under pressure, and an interior space of the tank is sealed off.
CONSTITUTION: An upper-part liquid 1 exposed to the atmospheric air 9 is filtered at the position of the filtering surface 2 by the filter medium fed from a filter medium source A, and it is made to fall into a lower-part liquid 3 by gravity. When the amount of the liquid exceeds the filtering capacity, the level of the liquid 1 is raised to push a float 5 upwards, while actuating a lower limit switch 6. The switch 6 actuates a vacuum pump so that air is drawn out through an exhaust port 8 to accelerate the filtration in accordance with a predetermined degree of vacuum of the pump. When the filter medium at the filtering surface 2 is clogged, the level of the liquid 1 is further raised to cause the float 5 to operate an upper limit switch 7.
