Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the brittle fracture of a turbine rotor, by detecting the temperature of the center hole of the turbine rotor and its rotational frequency to calculate the stress of the rotor to control the operation of a turbine.
CONSTITUTION: A temperature sensor 2 is mounted with a tightly fitting member 5 on the tip of a sleeve 4 inserted in the center hole of a rotor 1, so that a center hole temperature detector 21 is constructed. The output of the temperature sensor 2 is transmitted to an operation controller 12 or a display unit 13 through a signal transmission unit 11 comprising a transmitter 9 and a receiver 10. The operation controller 12 is so constructed that when the temperature of the center hole of the rotor 1 is lower than a set level, the controller prevents the rise in the rotational frequency of the rotor until the temperature of the center hole of the rotor exceeds the set level due to the rise in the temperature of steam of a turbine or the increase in the quantity of the turbine steam. This results in preventing the turbine from being operated over the limit of brittleness strength of the rotor 1.
