Abstract

PURPOSE:To make high speed and high quality printing possible, by passing an electric current to a nozzle to creat a flow of electrically conductive ink to allow the ink to jet normally to a magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:A head includes for example seven tubes 25-31, and electrodes 8-14 and 15-21 are arranged to the sides of the forward ends of the tubes. The tubes 25-31 are arranged in order between magnetic poles of a permanent magnet 22 and are always in the magnetic field in the direction shown by an arraow 34. The electrically conductive inks 1-7 are present in the respective tubes. For example if an electric current is passed from the electrode 8 to the electrode 15, the ink 1 receives a force in the direction 33 by the Fleming's right hand law so that it would not flow from the tube 25. If the electric current is passed to the tube 25 in the opposite direction, the ink receives a force in the direction 32 so that it jets from the tube 25.
