Abstract
PURPOSE:To finish a die unit to an accurate taper angle, by combining the port and die of the die unit with each other, engaging the mandrel of the port in the hole of the die, vertically moving a spark erosion machining electrode down to the die, vertically moving a spark erosion machining electrode down to roughly open a hole through the engaged part and thereafter vibrating the electrode while moving it up. CONSTITUTION:The port 2 and die 1 of a die unit are combined with each other. The mandrel 3 of the port 2 is engaged in the hole of the die 1. A spark erosion machining electrode 6 is vertically moved down to the engaged part to roughly open a hole through it. After that, the electrode 6 is moved up while it is vibrated on a horizontal plane and the amplitude of the vibration is gradually decreased, thereby effecting tapering work. Finishing work is then performed to make the bearing surface of the mandrel 3 vertical. Since the port 2 and the die 1 are previously combined with each other, the die unit having an accurate tapered angle and comprising the port and the die with their axes coincident with each other is provided.
