Abstract

PURPOSE:To carry out the manufacture of a metal mold simply and at high speed by using the original pattern mold of a casting as an electrode as it is, controlling the feed of the electrode to control the machining gap toward a deburring metal mold member, and applying a pulse wave-form voltage to a part between the electrode and the mold member. CONSTITUTION:The original pattern molds of a casting in which 30-40% copper powder is mixed are used for electrodes 11 as they are and are horizontally suspended on a shank 4 in such a way that either of them comes to the surface to carry out electric discharge machining. And, when a defined depth is obtained, an enlarged tapered hole part directed downward from the top of a deburring lower metal mold is formed via the horizontal oscillation of the electrode 11, to manufacture a deburring lower metal mold having a matte-finish form machining end face as a whole. Then, by using the original pattern molds of the casting for an electrode as they are equally as mentioned above, the other of them is brought to the surface to carry out electric discharge machining as an electrode 21. And, electric discharge machining is carried out up to a defined site, to manufacture an upper mold having a matte-finish form machined surface.
