Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure accurate detection of a recording paper, by simultaneously performing both the detection for the ejected recording paper and the elimination of the residual electric charge on the recording paper. CONSTITUTION:The residual charge is eliminated by conductive brushes 3 and 4 provided at a paper ejecting port 9 for the recording paper 6 which is transported from a fixing device 7 by rollers 1 and 2. Such paper 6 is collected on a copy tray 10. As brushes 3 and 4 are set opposite to each other, these brushes touch each other when no paper 6 exists between them to be electrically connected to each other. While the paper 6 existing between these two brushes breaks the connection between the brushes. Thus the intermittent connection between the brushes 3 and 4 is electrically detected to detect the paper 6. As a result, no breakage nor soil affects the paper 6 since no mechanical mechanism nor photoelectric element is used for the detection. Thus the recording paper is always detected in an accurate way.
