PURPOSE:To detect a jam of the transfer paper to a conductive fixing roller and at the same time to facilitate the easy exfoliation of the transfer paper stuck to the fixing roller, by detecting the presence or absence of the electrical conduction between the said fixing roller and a conductive paper jam detecting roller which is adjacent to the fixing roller. CONSTITUTION:Both a conductive fixing roller 121' and a conductive paper jam detecting roller 14 are rotated with a mutual contact secured between their surfaces to form a switchable contact C within a circuit respectively. The contact C closes when the transfer paper P is carried in a normal way between the rollers 121' and 122. In this case, the potential difference V1 which is produced across a detecting reference resistance R1 is measured to decide no occurrence of a paper jam. In case when the transfer paper P' stuck to the roller 121' to cause a paper jam, the contact C is opened. Accordingly the difference V1 is set at zero. In such way, a paper jam detection signal S is delivered by supplying the difference V1 to a comparator C.C.
