Abstract
PURPOSE:To obviate the abrupt generation of gases during replenishing of a concd. nitric acid and provide sufficient effect for suppression of production of gaseous NOx by contg. a proper amt. of hydrogen peroxide to a nitric acid pickling soln. added with a sulfamic acid. CONSTITUTION:Hydrogen peroxide of an amt. to be contained at 0.01-10% in the liquid is contained in a nitric acid pickling soln. of <=0.5wt% residual sulfamic acid concn. This liquid composition obviates the abrupt generation of gases despite replenishing of a concd. nitric acid of >=20% directly to this soln. This soln. shows a blue color as it contains hydrogen peroxide, and when the hydrogen peroxide is consumed on continuation of metallic pickling, the liquid shows a yellow color and therefore the timing for replenishing of the hydrogen peroxide is known. The replenishing of the sulfamic acid for suppressing the production of gaseous NOx is simply required to be carried out at the point of the time when the colored gaseous NOx is easy to be produced, and the need for quantitative analysis of the residual amt. of the sulfamic acid is eliminated.
