Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare high-purity lead lanthanum titanate zirconate (PLZT) through its deposition, by mixing solutions of isopropoxides of Zr, Ti, Pb an La in benzene in stoichiometric ratio, followed by hydrolyzing the mixture with water.
CONSTITUTION: Benzene solutions of lead isopropoxide[Pb(OR)2], zirconium isopropoxide[Zr(OR)4], titanium isopropoxide[Ti(OR)4], and lanthanum alkoxide[La(OR)3] are mixed in the desired stocichiometric ratio. 500mol distilled water based on 1mol lead isopropoxide is added to the mixed solution, it is hydrolyzed with stirring, and PLZT is precipitated. This substance is filtered, washed, subjected to natural drying, and calcined at about 500°C. High-purity ultrafine powder of crystalline PLZT is obtained.
