Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the clogging of a nozzle due to the drying of ink by mounting a cap pipe to a nozzle cap fitted onto a rotatable supporting member and connecting the pipe to a recovery pipe communicated with a gutter. CONSTITUTION:A circumferential section of a nozzle orifice 5 at the center of the nozzle 1 is sealed with a cap seal 17 under a condition that the nozzle cap 11 is mounted. When the ink is jetted from the nozzle 1 by means of an ink supply pipe 24 under this state, the ink is fitted into the cap pipe 22, and recovered by negative pressure generated at a recovery pipe 20 through a T joint 21. When ink jet from the nozzle 1 is stopped under this state, the ink in the sections except a reservoir section 25 in the cap pipe 22 slowly flows out into the pipe 20 owing to gravity because the pipe 20 is brought to an opening condition at the ink recovery gutter 4 side. Negative pressure is not generated at the pipe 20 at that time, but ink does not overflow from the gutter 4 even when it flows to the gutter 4 side because the amount of the ink flowing out of the pipe 22 is slight.
