Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the low ratio foaming, thick plate characterized by increased mechanical strength and excellent working property by extruding thermoplastic synthetic resin powder or particles including glass fiber and foaming agent by an extruding mechanism having small shearing stress and pressing the material. CONSTITUTION:The glass fiber is obtained by cutting the bundled body of the glass fiber or single fiber filament into the length of 12mu or less. Said glass fiber is mixed with the thermoplastic synthetic resin in the state of powder, fine particles, or pellets, the foaming agent, and stabilizing agent if necessary. The mixture is evenly dispersed and put into an extruder cylinder 1. Then it is heated and injected into a sizing die 4 through a nozzle 3. The extruding mechanism has the small shearing stress in order to prevent collapse and pulverization of the glass fiber. The diameter of the nozzle 3 is made large in order to reduce the resistance to the glass fiber. The extruded molded body 5 is cooled and pressed by a thickness adjusting press mechanism 6, and the fiber reinforced, thermoplastic, thick plate having a constant thickness and a constant specific gravity is obtained.
